Girls star Gaby Hoffman consumed her placenta after giving birth by adding it to smoothies.
The actress welcomed a baby girl named Rosemary in November and she has now revealed she made the decision to eat the organ, which many believe gives new mothers energy and helps ward off post-natal depression.
She tells People.com, “Placenta, placenta, placenta. Just eat that s**t up, and it does a girl good!… You don’t taste (it)… I made smoothies out of it for three weeks. I had a home birth, so my midwife and my doula took it and cut it up into 20 pieces and froze it, and every day, I put it in a blender with strawberries and blueberries and guava juice and a banana, and I drank that s** up.”
Rosemary is Hoffman’s first child with her cinematographer boyfriend Chris Dapkins.
